This collection is inspired by the Ocean. Through the windows of my house, I can see and hear the waves of the Atlantic Ocean gently crashing against the beautiful warm sand. These tropical waters, inhabited by thousands of marine species, are bursting with colors and continuous movement, an ever-changing majestic landscape. Seagulls, fish, turtles, crabs, and “aguavivas” (“jellyfish”) abound. A walk along the beach invites reflection and relaxation. Each summer, right at my footsteps, hundreds of leatherback sea turtles hatch and baby turtles emerge from the sand and make their way to the seashore where the waves caress the hatchlings and welcome them into their natural habitat. The sense of wonderment that I experience with nature gives me boundless inspiration which I have attempted to capture and express through my handbags.
Each handbag is meticulously handcrafted in Puerto Rico. The design and tailoring are completely handmade, using satin and cotton fabrics, among other materials. Each handbag takes anywhere from 25 to 50 hours to finish, with hand-stitched finishing.
I always envision my handbags as small sculptures. Each is unique and with a life of its own. I hope you enjoy my collection as they are truly a labor of love that represent not only myself but my heritage and culture.
