I have always been very creative, detail oriented, and skilled with my hands. As far back as I can remember, I have been able to draw, paint, and sew. Creating has always come natural to me. Being a modern Hispanic woman, raised in the cosmopolitan island of Puerto Rico, I have gathered insights and gained inspiration from many distinct and unique perspectives. If a fabric catches my attention, it awakens my creativity which is reflected in my designs.
When I design, I feel like a child, fearless, without prejudices and without any boundaries. I envision creativity as a never-ending and perpetually-evolving theatre production. When the curtain is up, I allow others to view the ideas that lie deep within and that are guiding my existence at that particular point in time. When the curtain is down, my mind fills up with life experiences that will be converted into the material that will be displayed in the next act.
My designs are undoubtedly a reflection of my Hispanic culture and heritage. I combine diverse materials and traditional techniques with bright colors and contemporary patterns. We are strong, colorful, expressive, warm, romantic, and we want our clothes and accessories to reflect who we are.
